Vanity comes in all forms…

I was trying to keep Vince’s hair long. He always has very short hair and it sort of given him an identity. He always look like this.

Vince with very short hair…getting ready to swim..He used to train for swimming but then he got bored.

2 years ago, I resisted the urge to razor his hair and it grew to this length

(Vince waiting for his pizza)

The long hair wasn’t really a problem at school until today. The teacher asked him to cut off his hair.

I just want to give you a “before the haircut” look:

Did you notice he is getting slimmer?

So now he had the dreaded haircut.

He initially wanted to have a foot spa treatment first prior to the hair cut.. SPELL SPOILED!

Oh please…get off that chair…lol

PINK…really? This is a salon not a barber shop.

He is really ticklish.

He was very specific that he doesn’t want a near-skin-head do.

Complaining about the hairs getting into his neck. Did I mention he is ticklish?

Getting there…I can almost see the result.

I love the long bangs….

I told him we should just leave the bangs like that. He hates the idea.

Bit of spray here and there.

Shampoo after the hair cut.

Rinsing the hair.

Wiping the hair.

The supportive auntie.

And where’s the momma during all these? BEHIND THE CAMERA…..

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The cost of the camera lens repair….

So the camera service centre contacted me this morning and gave me the final price for having my camera lens fixed. Apparently, the fungus grew inside cemented elements and therefore, cleaning will not do the trick. See Fungus in Camera Lens post. So the price will be 5,700 in peso which is around $150. I have no choice but to have it fixed. I made a lot of research about this case and fungus will not go away on its own. I SUPER HATE YOU FUNGUS!

Anyway, I just had to get the lens back for a couple more weeks before I have them operate on it because I just have to use my camera first. Much as I wanted to just leave the fungus as that, I can’t…I don’t have peace of find knowing that something is lurking behind my camera lens!

I may have to bid goodbye to my 5700 but if it means good pictures and peace of find…I wouldn’t think twice 🙂

Jokes that bring back memories of childhood…

So it is that time of the year again when students become busy with school projects. Vince is doing one of his school projects and this one is for English Reading. He was researching for jokes. I make sure that he visits kid friendly joke sites because you know there are just loads of not-so-kid-friendly jokes out there and I don’t want to cloud my son’s head with those. So I was supervising and making sure that I see what he’s doing online. Yes, I am super dooper OC a bit OC.

He was really giggling with the jokes but here I am thinking, what’s so funny ab0ut that? What has four legs but can’t walk? ME: Of course, a chair! or a table perhaps… (no sign of smile less laugh). Anyway, reading over some of the jokes brings back memories of childhood.

When I used to laugh at everything. I see a bald man..I laugh. I hear some burp…I laugh. I watch Mickey Mouse…I laugh. I watch Tom & Jerry, nonstop and I have almost memorized every line and act…I still laugh.

This is perhaps what we have lost as adults. We tend to overlook some simple things that have the ability to make us laugh. Why do adult jokes always have to have a hint of rudeness in it? Is it because we can’t laugh at clean jokes any more? It just feels good sometimes to go back to our roots. I love my childhood!

If you are wondering what the jokes are, here are some of them:

Where do birds meet for coffee?

What games do cow plays at parties?

Moosical Chairs!

What do you give a sick pig?

An oinkment.

What do mouse do at home?

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Psalm 147:7
7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.

Fungus in my camera lens…are you kidding me?

Do you have a dslr camera? Have you checked your lens lately? Did you know that fungus can actually grow inside the lens? I’m not kidding…this is what happened to my camera lens.

I first noticed a tree-like mini strands inside the lens. At first they were hard to notice but eventually, it grew and I was really worried. I just bought that camera last October and I barely use it. My first reaction was that the lens might have been chipped on the side. But when I inspected it closely, it wasn’t a chip, it was sort of lines intertwined and interconnected to each other (like a tree with branches and everything). It was colour white.

Fungus on the sides of the camera lens.

Fungus up close.

So what is the cause?

Moisture can trigger fungus to get inside your lens. I’ve been keeping my camera inside its bag and on a drawer. It is really cold this time of the year and it must have been moist inside the bag.

Initially, I panicked. I did a lot of research about it. I even panicked more. So fungus actually grows. My pictures aren’t affected yet because the fungus on my lens is just a tiny bit at the corner. But because I learned that it grows, I wanted to have it fixed right away.

I am supposed to enjoy a 5 year warranty on my camera. It turns out that fungus is outside the warranty cover. So I have to pay for the cost incurred in fixing the lens and replacing the affected part. Yes, they have to replace. They said they couldn’t clean the lens. The cost is approximately $100 for the replacement of the affected part – which is just the glass on the lens really. Expensive I know but I have to replace it. Otherwise, how can I take pictures to share with you? 🙂

Avoid moist areas. Keep your camera and lenses in breathable bags.

Clean your camera lens always.

Anyway, I hope to be reconciled with my lens in 3 weeks time. Until then, you will have to bear with my ipod pictures. Happy tuesday everyone. XO

2 Corinthians 2:14
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

Playing with instaframes…

Update on the red eye – redness is out but a hint of itchiness is still there. Tobradex is all ready to give me some love ❤

Instaframes is one of the many apps I have on my ipod and I was giving it a shot. I just don’t know why the images turned out to be mini versions of how I expected them to be. Nevertheless I am sharing them over here.

Moi and the bestfriends….

shops set up for the Chinese new year…although I don’t know exactly when it will be 🙂

Oh, just us before having lunch….

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Have a good night everyone…see y’all later…

Monday red eye…

This can’t be!!!! The last time I had an eye infection was when I was 17. That was a year ago!!!! 🙂 I noticed that my eyes were itchy last night. I was still working and when I looked in the mirror, I saw my left eye visibly smaller than my right. And then I thought, am I becoming a Chinese? One eye at a time?

Anyway, I had to stop working to rest my eye. I called it a night and when I woke up this morning, I am half CHINESE! My left eye is so small and red (not too much but still a red) and I am afraid I had to wear sunnies even inside the shops. So what caused this? I made a few researches:

Possible Cause:

I applied too much mascara.  The vessels in the white part of the eye are swollen. I may have over strained my eye. I spent a lot of hours in front of my laptop stalking my friends on facebook, twitter, and instagram  working. Another possible cause is infection. This is the cause. I know. I don’t need the doctor’s advice. I am my own doctor. Vince: Mommy our teacher told us that it is wrong to do self medication.

So what can I do? Ignore.  Rest the affected eye. Use ophthalmic drops. (I am definitely doing this.)

I will not post pictures lest you’ll consider my eye gross…

Nevertheless, it is a happy Monday.

Psalm 95:2
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Disclaimer: I am not saying that Chinese eye is red…I am associating Chinese with the small slanted eye that I have today. Love you my Chinese friends 🙂

Happy Sunday…

Happy Sunday everyone. Been to church and did a few errands after. I also took some pictures.

Do I really have to work?

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

Money don’t grow on trees. This is a fact. If you want money, you have to work for it. I’ve been working late last night and now I have to work late again. Some people think that just because I work from home and that I have a free schedule, I can just sit back, do nothing, and wait for the dough.

Why is there a need for money anyway? Do I really have to work? Can I just watch movie all day? Well, I can. But if it means losing the means to binge, shop, and enjoy life, it seems like I have no choice but to WORK.

And if I don’t work, how can I have these:

I have never moved on from my Cinderella dream…who has anyway? She is every single little girl’s dream of becoming… 🙂

Bags are a necessity…Really it is…We need bags so we have somewhere to hide our mess…oh well, I just love bags. No amount of justification needed 🙂

Now, I’m more motivated to work…see yah later!

 Deuteronomy 15:10
Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

Hump day….

Friendship… is not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.
Muhammad Ali

Every Wednesday, we hold a prayer group study with the people from my place. It is always something to look forward to. Our fellowship usually starts at 8pm and ends at around 11pm depending on how things go. Sometimes if we have a lot of things to talk about, we end up going home just before midnight. Each one has a story to tell and to think we are about 15 in the group, you can just imagine the duration of the prayer meeting.

Wednesday is a day to look forward to. I just love WEDNESDAYS. Hope you have a lovely day yourself.

And our verse for this post:

Philippians 2:1-2 – #4 Fellowship Verse- United in the Spirit

If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

And so we wait…

“It is very strange that the years teach us patience – that the shorter our time, the greater our capacity for waiting.”
― Elizabeth TaylorA Wreath of Roses

wow..what a day..

I normally wake up at 8 in the morning — wait…before you judge, let me tell you that I sleep 12mn the earliest… But today I was forced to wake up earlier because I’ll be the one to drop off Tot at school. Normally, Tot’s school time starts at 6:30am. SAY WHAT???? yes, it starts that early because it’s only half day. He goes out at 12:30pm and that’s the end of it.

Because it was an exam day, he goes to school at 8 and comes out at 11. So we were there by 10:15am. This is because I drove my niece to her school at 10am (this is the school time for kindies) and we went straight to Tot’s school. And because we had plenty of time at hand, we took some pics while waiting for Tot and Hannah to come out. Picture taking and candy crush helped us forget about the waiting. Isn’t waiting the worst thing to do?

So what to do while you wait? Picture..picture….

Tot told me that the exams were ok and that he was able to answer them with confidence. Kewl..

And so, our verse for today will be:

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

Happy wednesday everyone.
