Why I blog….

Happy Thursday my loves….

I’ve been blogging for several years already. But I write for my clients rather than for my personal blog. Blogging was merely work for me before but lately I realized that there are many things going on in my head and they need somewhere to park.

I started my personal blog in 2011 and then I just got tired. I actually set up 2 blogs in 2011 – one is an internet marketing blog where I share all my “so-called expertise” on internet marketing and the other one is a review blog where I rank products according to their effectiveness. These blogs died because they are not something that I am really interested in. I realized that what I want to blog is my day to day encounters and experiences. So I started Kiks’ Simple Life.

Now, when people ask me why I blog, I can’t answer them specifically because the fact is that there are actually many reasons why I blog. You see, the thing is if you have a single reason for blogging, you will eventually lose that reason and stop blogging. If you have many reasons and you lose one, there are still many to go by. So why do I blog? Here are my top reasons:

1. My cup of ideas is never empty.

What do you do when your mind just overflows with ideas?  If this is a talent, I’d win any talent competition. You have to share them. And for the past years, I’ve been sharing my ideas by way of talking. I am an extreme talker! In fact, I can make talking my full time job..yeah 40 hours a week! Wouldn’t you agree that writing ideas is better than talking? Blogging ideas is best because you’ll have a wider range of audience.

2. My happiness is worth sharing.

If you’re happy and you know it, share it! We can’t just underestimate the power of happiness sharing. My joy can cheer up a depressed friend. It is something that is passed on. Good vibes is as viral as gossip.

3. I’m proud of my family.

I think blogging is one way of telling the world how blessed I feel that I belong to this family. By family I am referring to both my nuclear family and my extended one. I am just surrounded with wonderful people worth telling the world about 🙂

4. We’ve got beautiful kids.

This is the next generation of my clan. WARNING: cuteness overload 🙂

4. I have beautiful friends.

I can talk about my friends forever. They’ve shared a part of my life’s journey. I laughed and cried with them but mostly I laughed with at  them.

5. I work from home but I’ve got a cabinet full of super lovely clothes and accessories. All credits go to the lovely sisters abroad.

What to do with them but blog them? I am so blessed I got sisters who patiently deal with my obsession with clothes, shoes, bags, make up, and accessories.

6. I have an internet.

I could spend hours stalking friends and frenemies on Facey so why not spend my unproductive time blogging instead?

7. Blogging is better than eating.

If I weren’t blogging, I would have spent my time eating. And you all know how all those calories can choose to stay on my tummy, legs, and arms!

So next time you ask me why I blog, my answer will be one of these.

Ecclesiastes 3:13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

Wordless Wednesday – shades of ORANGE

Happy Wednesday my loves….

I am participating in Wordless Wednesday today and as my title suggests, today is all about shades of orange…

A little play on the camera setting can achieve great results 🙂

With my sister and my cousin..

Hey little T (the little girl behind me)…wanna’ join?

Oh yeah, working out the pout.

Vintage + pout = exaggeration

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

I will always fail….

Happy Tuesday my loves….

“I will always fail” – such a discouraging phrase but nevertheless very true.

I attended church last Sunday and we had Aussie visitors who were part of a medical mission team. They did free surgeries for indigent Filipinos. One of the surgeons testified and he said some people think that his job is awesome. He said it is not. He is a good surgeon but no matter how good he is, he will always fail because all of his patients will eventually die. He may be able to save them but as time passes by,  death is still inevitable. It will come no matter how we dread it. He said that what he aims to do is help people to live life forever. And this can only be achieved by healing the soul rather than the body. Sharing Jesus to other people is the way to help them live for eternity. What we need to desire is eternal life through Christ Jesus. Our earthly body will soon betray us but life with Christ will last forever.

These words touched my soul. Instead of desiring for worldly pleasure and recognition, I should concentrate more on things that last. And indeed, it is selfishness to enjoy this life with Christ without sharing it with other people.

No matter what I do, I will always fail. This life will end even if I don’t want to. Everything else will fade away so I should strive to desire eternity. Isn’t it really amazing how a 3-minute testimony can really create a change in us?

I will always fail but there is always victory in Christ. I was made more than a conqueror. I can conquer death and live forever through HIM.

The medical team:

Pastors and surgeons like them are inspirations 🙂

Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

LOTD: Casual dinner look….

Happy Sunday my loves…

I feel so blessed today. I attended the Sunday service and we had Australian visitors who were part of a medical mission. They are surgeons who offered free surgeries for indigent Filipinos. I will be posting more about the medical mission and the super inspiring and renewing message tomorrow. As for now, we had dinner at Kamias Restaurant. And this is my casual dinner look:

– the accessories –

Dinner with family after a good movie is a good way to live life.

Happiness makes life totally better 🙂

The entire outfit is a gift from my sisters. The pants, bag, and necklace are from Ms. Y of US. The sandals and bracelet are from Ms. R of Oz. The top is from Ms. D of the Philippines.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

In celebration of the love month….

Happy Saturday my loves…

Love knows no time but since we have made February the love month and the 14th to be the “love” day – Valentine’s day-, we decided to treat ourselves to a wonderful Valentine’s buffet at “Balay Cena Una”. This is a local restaurant that showcase international cuisine. I seldom go out at night unless I plan to blog an evening event. Anyway, I was with my family. I thought I’d share some captured moments with you.

All the girls were given red roses. I got one from Mr. L on the 13th and yey, I’ve got more roses!

Capturing precious moments gives us the chance to keep them for life. Our own memory may betray us but pictures won’t. As long as they are properly kept 😛

“Closer” said our photographer and we gladly obliged 😛 Having someone to spend the rest of your life with is a blessing from above.

I could not imagine living life without a sister. Family is God’s venue of strengthening us and making us enjoy life better.

And love is for everyone.

Spell happiness? It is when your life is focused to God and He blesses you in return 🙂

Extended family is fun. My sister with my lovely nieces.

Don’t you just love little B’s reaction? “A BREAD!”

A taste of my favourite Chocolate Opera Cake. Yum.

We are sisters…we are friends…we got magic that never ends….

Our capacity to love is directly proportional to our capacity to be loved.

Friends may come and they may go but family remains.

Dinner is more fun when you are with your family….

What best defines sisterhood? It is a relation by heart and not just by blood.

One lucky man, are you?

Psalm 103:17

But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children–

Undeserving but loved….

Happy Friday my loves.

The weather here is all gloomy. I know it seems like a good day to write while sipping a cup of hot coffee but I’m the type of person who’d rather curl up on my bed and play Design Fashion in my ipod read a book or better yet take a nap. I’m not sure if you’ll still consider an 8 hour sleep a nap 🙂

Anyway, this is also the best time to just sit down and think of the life that we’ve lived. I am so blessed and this humbles me in many ways. I don’t deserve any of these. I am flawed and most of the time, I go against what God wants me to do. I don’t justify the fact that this is unintentional. Of course I want to be deserving of the gift that my Creator has given me but hey, I am as stubborn as any other people.

But who am I that HE is mindful of me? This makes me realize that although I am undeserving, there is a GOD who loves me – loves me enough to die for me. I am loved. This gives me the heart to love as well.

I’ve seen a sign that says God’s love is unconditional, unlimited and complete. With HIS LOVE, there is nothing else to ask for. He’s got nothing to lose even if we don’t love HIM. HE will still be the living GOD. But hey, we lose everything if we don’t love HIM.

I am undeserving but loved….

Romans 5:8

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

What made our tummy happy on Valentines…

Happy Thursday my loves….

I am really sorry for my few days of absence. I have been sick! Would you believe it? Right after Valentine’s day, I got really sick. Overstressed? OVERFED! Gluttony is a sin and this may just have been my punishment for the unlimited buffet. Hey, who could say no to baked prawns and yummy cakes?

I know I have promised you pictures of the Valentine’s dinner date but I decided to create two posts for the date because there are just too many pictures. So this is the first batch – a picture of the dinner buffet that made our tummy really happy. I think the happiness is permanently etched!

The main course. Baked prawns, roasted chook, cordon bleu, mixed veggies, medium rare steak, quiche, and mashed potato. I know it’s too much right? But hey,,,my tummy can stretch this much!

A closer look…Doesn’t this make us all go hungry again?

This is just one of the countless desserts…I think this is panna cotta with fresh strawberry and choco on top.

The floating island dessert. It’s basically meringue topped with some almonds and swimming in sweet and milky sauce.

The chocolate opera cake is my favourite. It is a layer of “pili” nut – much like cashew nut – and chocolate. The other is fruit tart. What makes this tart different is that the shell is actually made of pure chocolate. I’m literally drooling right now!

More desserts – handcrafted white chocolates, glazed mixed fruits, blueberry cheesecake, chille mango cheesecake…YUM!

And what says I love you better than a platter of sweets?

Oh the cream puffs are the best! I could eat them forever!

So these basically made our tummy happy and our mouth busy last Valentines 🙂

Proverbs 15:17
A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. (NLT)

License to be extra romantic….

Happy Thursday my loves…and of course, happy Valentine’s day to all of you…

I am romantic all year long but I must admit this is the day of the year that people get to be extra romantic. This is our license girls to demand roses and chocolates! I do demand – I don’t expect…Lest Mr. L would want to start world war III.

I received these a day earlier. That is Mr. L…always advanced…

Why do men give roses and chocolates during Valentines? I don’t know the answer but we girls seem to love it!  What do women give in return? Our sweet smile and unfailing love. This is our expertise – and what men needs to master.

Teddy bear symbolizes the importance of “hug” in a relationship. Hugging is not only a symbol of affection but actually a form of therapy. Did you know that there are actually holistic therapy centres that offer hugging as one of their therapeutic treatment? I should visit one.

I have a sweet tooth –  sweet teeth – These are assorted flavours. I particularly love caramel coated in dark chocolate. I’m a dark chockie fan!

Later, Valentine’s dinner date is scheduled. I’ll be posting Valentines inspired looks and of course, I’ll document the date 🙂

Proverbs 17:9
Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.

LOTD: laid back and care free….

Hi my loves… here are some inspiration for a laid back and care free look. This look is perfect for Sunday service or when going out with friends. My sister over at Clumsy Firefly took the photos. She’s a great photographer. I am obliged to say so. You should check out her blog as well. She’s got great pictures over there and some love sentiments. I know..she is romantic and I’m not. I am breathing love!

I find inspiration in everything and hopefully you do too!

Don’t you just love the clutch bag and the bracelet?

The ring and the belt complements…I know right?

Thanks to my wonderful sister Neliza for the pants! I super love it!

Didn’t I mention that this shoes is overused?

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Delight yourself in the LORD…

Happy Tuesday my loves….

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

I firmly believe in this verse. I thought I’d share it to you as a source of encouragement for all of us. It may be difficult to delight ourselves in the Lord as we live in a world of temptation but hey, there’s nothing that we can’t do if we are with HIM right? If God is with us, who can be against us? And not to mention, we are made more than conquerors.

I feel inspired this bright Tuesday morning. Hope you are all inspired as well.

Much love my loves….xoxo
