Happy Monday my loves….

Today is a happy day. Aside from being the official last day of school, today is also the recognition and awarding day when students get recognized for all the hard work that they have done during the entire school year. Our genius little lady H got the first honor award…

Little B played a little flight attendant and she also got awards…

My little love is not far from the grades of the honour students but he didn’t make it to top 5. Not bad considering his grades are just a few points away from the honour students 🙂

And being the loving Aunt that I am, I was there during the entire program 🙂

The other loving Aunt, Clumsy Firefly , made my hair while we wait for little H’s name to be called:

And of course, we had dinner to celebrate 🙂

And because my sister, little B, and I are seated together, I had the chance to take a picture of our lovely shoes:

In everything that these children has achieved, may God be glorified.

Deuteronomy 8:18

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Who is Kiks?

I’ve been forcing you to look at my pictures for a while now and I thought I haven’t even written an “About Me” page yet. Maybe, just maybe, you don’t even have an idea yet as to who Kiks is. So I think now is the perfect time to tell you more about this blogger named Kiks.

Well, here are some not-so-interesting facts about moi:

1. I dance. I’m not saying I’m a good dancer but I do dance – zumba to be exact. I am trying to lose weight because I feel that I’m already so heavy. No, I’m not anorexic! <defensive mode> And because I have a weight loss goal in mind, I do zumba once a month! LOL… I wonder if I will ever lose weight doing this 😛

2. I couldn’t sleep without reading – the reason I am smart:P Seems like I forgot to put on my humility hat! I read just about anything, yes, even labels on skin moisturisers, alcohol, etc. But most of all, I love reading my Bible. It’s my “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth”. Yes, I do need instructions; otherwise, I’ll be going my way and I am guaranteed to fail. And another yes for leaving earth soon – this is inevitable!

3. I hula hoop. I couldn’t find a good hula hoop from the shops so I asked Mr. L to make me one. He used PVC pipe so my hoop is heavy enough to help trim my stubborn tummy 🙂 I remember I put a lot of marbles inside the pipe so it will be heavier but because of the constant movement, the marbles were broken and as you have imagined – shards of glasses everywhere! Scary to death 😦

4. I have an extreme OCD. I wash my hands hundred times each day. I check doors ten times before I can finally be convinced that it is already closed. I am afraid of anything made of glass. I have a box of gloves always! I cannot go out without a hand sanitizer and wet wipes in my bag. I am afraid of public places. Extreme…I know right? But this is me and although I extremely want to be free from OCD, I just can’t. Anyone got a suggestion?

5. I sing. I mean, I love to sing but it doesn’t mean that I’m good at it. Most of the songs I love are Christian songs. The hardest part of singing for me is getting the right pitch!

6. My secret fantasy is to win $ millions in lottery. Impossible because I don’t bet on lottery but it’s just a fantasy anyway. While sitting on my white throne, this is what fuels my imagination. I lull myself to sleep by thinking about what I’m going to do with my $ millions.

7. Favourites. Colour – Grey; Food – Pasta; Number – Seven; Verse – John 3:16; Cartoon Character – Spongebob; Fruit – Rock melon; Teacher – Fr. Ojoy; Hobby – Play Design World/Candy Crush

8. Achievements. Degree – English; Award in University – Magna Cum Laude

9. I am an extremely fast learner. I don’t wish to brag but whatever task assigned to me – even if they are out of my forte – I can do them excellently. Just ask my employers 🙂

10. I love to eat. I’ll spend thousands for fine dining and excellent cuisine but I’ll never open my wallet for a new dress! Good thing I got sisters who fill my drawers with clothes and my shoe rack with lovely shoes! Otherwise, I’ll be in a beggar uniform dining in a fine resto. Hmmm…I wonder if they will even let me in!

Well, what else do you want to know? Ask me and I’ll tell you to the best of my ability as I am not that confident that I truly know myself that much 😛

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Happy Monday my loves…

It’s been quite a while since I have appreciated poetry. I have memorized hundreds of poems before when I was still completing my English degree course. “A Dream Within A Dream” by Edgar Allan Poe, “There Is Another Sky” by Emily Dickinson, and who could forget “The Road Not Taken” of Robert Frost? These are poems that have marked in me. I’ve written a few poems myself; however, I could not compare them to these masterpieces. Yes, I’m being humble…I’m humble…I’m proud to be humble 😛

If I have appreciated poetry masterpieces of people I have not even met personally, how much more will I be able to appreciate works of friends? My dearest friend Paul Ellender is a genius when it comes to poetry :). I know, I may tend to exaggerate as I’m a loyal friend, but you can judge for yourself.

So, last week, P sent me some of his works. Some are really old poems hidden from appreciative readers like me. I just thought I’d share them with you. After all, a poet who doesn’t showcase his work is merely a poet in his mind. I believe P is a genius and the world needs to read his works 🙂

So here you go my loves:

by: Paul Ellender

Morning breaks,

into big city smog.

Dormant becomes restless,

restless becomes frantic…

                                                run, run, run.

Dream creases on the face,

map routes in the sheet,

egg smears on yesterday’s plate…

Blue scratches on a bathroom door,

toothpaste smudge across a chrome tap,

wondering where my bag is…

A macrocosmic leap across the metroscape

where movement never ceases to leave a mark-

footstep on church step,

hand print on glass,

tyre marks across the street line…

traces, traces, traces.

In turn we believe,

we want to believe, we will each leave

our mark on the tracescape of the city:

(identity shelved) in the hope we will re-recognise.

We become traces, the traces us.

We the city, the city us.

There are some you cannot touch. Too small.

The virginal scratches on a train line,

temporal plumes of jet-set vapour,

the cross on a map (some road fatality),

and acid etching made by invisible hands…

and the paradigmatic shift of the seasons.

                                                A mark in time.

Traces, traces, traces.

(march 1995)

Well, what do you think my loves? Isn’t this just lovely?

Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Wordless Wednesday – TMNT Sweet Buffet

Happy Wordless Wednesday my loves…

So my son hosted a sweet buffet at school…Yes, everything’s sweet. He’s into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles nowadays so I had to include the turtles on the candy banners. Anyway, I’ll keep my words short as this is for Wordless Wednesday so let the pictures speak for themselves 🙂

1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

LOTD: Summer inspired…

Happy Monday my loves…

It’s official..summer is here. It’s raging hot outside. So instead of going out, I did a look of the day pictorial. Here is a summer inspired look:

Let’s start with the sexy sandals. It’s Vera Wang purple stilletos.

Here is the coloured version:

Flowery top and cropped short shorts.

And the outfit:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I’ve learned more from him….

Happy Thursday my loves….

They say children learn from their parents. Fair enough, this is true but do you know that we actually learn more from our children? Having little V in my life has changed me. And I am certain I’m a better person now. I’ve learned so much from him that I can no longer imagine myself being the old me.

1. I’ve learned to be confident. I was a shy little girl before but when someone depends on you, you learn to come out of your shell. He looks up to me so there is no way I am going to look down to myself. I am SPECIAL. And this is what my son makes me feel every time he tells me that I am the most beautiful woman in the whole universe. And don’t forget – kids don’t lie! 🙂  Between Angelina Jolie’s magazine cover and my old tattered photo, he’ll still choose me.

(He is so confident that he is not ashamed to wear the mommy-made mummy costume 🙂 )

2. I’ve learned to be content. I am a dreamer. I dream of becoming someone big – well not in size. But when you have a loving son who tells you “I love you” every time he looks at you, you just can’t help but feel content. This life is more than what I have dreamed of. I dreamt of being somebody but more than that, I became someone’s everything 🙂

3. I’ve learned to care for others. I was a self centred individual before. I do things for myself. I wish to achieve things for myself. SELF – the thing that matters most to me before. Now, I have become more caring. It is so easy to care for other people when you have already learned what real care is. I care for little V. After all, I am his mother. Everyone has his own mother who cares for them. Why would I care less about them? They are valued by their parents and no parent would ever want their child to feel unloved and uncared for. I wouldn’t want other people to that to my little boy and so I wouldn’t do that to them as well. Remember the golden rule? Do not do unto others what you don’t want others to do unto you. I live by this rule now.

4. I’ve learned to sacrifice. I’ve learned to put others first before myself. Being a mother is a sacrifice worth enduring. At the end of the day, it feels really fulfilling to see that we’ve sacrificed for someone we love. Before I can even buy my make up, I’ll have to buy baby stuffs first!

5. I’ve learned to appreciate little things. Every little thing matters. When I give my son something, he is always appreciative. He never fails to say thank you. He makes me feel like I’ve given him the world. He’d hug me and say he loves me. What better return should I ask for?

6. I’ve learned to enjoy life. I’ve learned that life is not just about living. It is about enjoying every bit of time. Happiness is something that money can’t buy. It stems from a good relationship. It makes life worth living.

7. I’ve learned to play. When I was young, I thought of nothing else but study. When I started working, I thought of nothing else but work. Now, I’ve learned to break the routine and inject a bit of play. All work and no play will make me a dull girl, right?

8. I’ve learned to thank GOD for everything. Everything I have is simply borrowed. I have nothing to boast of. I can’t claim anything. I live by God’s grace. I am truly blessed that my son loves God more than anything else. If he grows up serving and loving God with all his heart, mind, and soul, I know that I’ve been a good mother.

Isaiah 54:13  All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.

Wordless Wednesday – Whatchalookinat?

Happy Wordless Wednesday my loves…

Another day to rest my keyboard and just post a lovely picture 🙂 Well, here’s my picture for this week. This is my baby Vince…time flies so fast. I may have to stop calling him baby soon 😦

It’s not shown but he is actually wearing a Ben 10 costume here – black shirt and a ben 10 jacket. I couldn’t find a Ben 10 jacket so I just bought a green one and I did the printing. It wasn’t perfect but hey it’s my first time to print on cloth 🙂

Proverbs 22:6  Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

I believe I’ll have another pizza….

Happy Tuesday my loves….

Today is pizza day. I’ve been out and about with my sisters and we just had to stop for a quick fix of our rumbling tummies. We decided to have pizza. We had margherita, garlic and cheese, and the usual Hawaiian. We also had sorrentina pasta which was yummy but the noodles were a bit overcooked. Hey, I am not complaining. After all, I’ve eaten at this restaurant for a million times already and this was the first time my pasta was overcooked 😦

Well, what do you do while you wait for the pizza and pasta? You take a picture! But bear with the resolution as I was using an ipod 🙂

And you hold your “Big Time Rush” poster while you stand between the back of two chairs. Work it our little B.

Ecclesiastes 3:12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
