Like a fire….

Happy Monday my loves….

Fire…it consumes…it burns…it lights…it saturates…it heats…

So I’ve been listening to one of the songs of Planetshakers called “Like a fire”. This song is so moving. I always include this in my line up when I’m tasked to lead the worship team at our church back in the Philippines.

How I love this song as it declares our need for Christ. Fire gives light. We need light to be able to live comfortably. We need light so we can see where we’re going. God is light. We need Him, there is no doubt to it. There may be times when our world seems so dark and we don’t know where we’ll end up to. We may try to open our eyes but they seem to be blinded by the situations we are in. God is light. Like a fire, He lights up our world.

He consumes me like a fire. My heart is just overwhelmed when I know that I am in His presence. There is fullness of joy. There is contentment. There is peace.

Like a fire, He can set me on fire for service. How I love the feeling of being on fire for Christ.

This song is an expression of desperateness for Christ. It is a declaration of the fact that we can’t be anything or anyone without Him. A good reminder indeed that we need Him.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, I suggest you do. This is an excellent worship song too for churches.

Hebrews 12:29

I’m getting an A+ in waiting….

Happy Wednesday my loves…

Waiting is boring to a lot of people. In fact, according to surveys, it is the most hated thing to do by a lot of people. It gives anxiety and stress. There is nothing more dreadful than to wait for something that you are not sure of.

But I wait. I waited before and I still wait until now. But I’m not waiting in vain.

Waiting is synonymous to patience. It reveals a great of deal of your patience. When you wait for something or someone, there is always the need to wait patiently. You can’t wait if you are not patient. You’ll end up too bored, stressed, and angry at times.

Why don’t I get tired of waiting?

Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry…

God has given me the confidence to wait. Jeremiah 29:11 says that HIS plan for us is to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us hope and future. This is my verse. This is what GOD is telling me. HIS plans are perfect. I wait because I know HE is going to prosper me in HIS perfect time.

While I was writing this post, God has actually answered one of my prayers. I have been waiting for this answer for a few weeks already and now He just answered me. How amazing it is. God never fails me. When it comes to surprises, He tops it all the time. Again, He made me realize that worrying will not do anything except add a few lines on my forehead and a bit more fluffiness under my eyes.

Why did I say I’m getting an A+ in waiting? Because there are lot of things that I wait for. And while some people may well quit, I didn’t. I wait. I still wait. I will wait.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Life lessons from Genesis…

Happy Friday my loves…

Today is a happy day. Thank GOD it’s Friday ;p

So as I have mentioned, I’d like to share with you some of the valuable life lessons that I’ve learned from reading the book of Genesis. I have read this book a few times already but I must admit that I have not remembered any. This may be because I wasn’t reading from my heart before. I was just driven by my desire to finish the book.

So for the past month, I have been reading a chapter per day. And from my daily readings, these lessons surfaced:

* God has created us. We are perfectly planned. We are not here  by accident. We are here for a purpose. He has designed every one of us with perfection in mind. I used to think low of myself but God has just reassured me that I am special. I am created from HIS own image. I am HIS.

* God blesses HIS people. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph are all men of GOD. They were blessed abundantly with no more rooms for all the blessings. Oh how I love the feeling of hope and future that HE gives me. We will also be blessed just as these people have been blessed.

* Children are gifts from GOD. True! In the old times, people believe that barrenness is a punishment for sin. They believe that having children is a gift from GOD. Isaac was a promised gift to both Abraham and Sarah. Joseph was a gift for Jacob and Rachel.

* No matter where we are, God is with us. Whether Joseph is in Potiphar’s house, in the prison, or at the right hand of the Pharaoh, GOD has favoured HIM greatly. GOD doesn’t choose a place, HE chooses us.

* To forgive is to forget. When Joseph has forgiven his brothers, he has also forgotten what they have done to him. This is what forgiveness is all about. You do not keep records of the past.

I have more lessons to share on my next post…I’ll keep this post short else you’ll get tired of reading 🙂

Hebrews 1:10 He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

So I started in Genesis…

Happy Thursday my loves….

Where do you suppose to start reading the Bible? Some people told me to start in John as it is about the life and ministry of Jesus. I did read John. But then again, I always have this urge to start from first page to the last page of the Bible. I just find it hard sometimes to follow some chapters if I don’t know what happened prior to that. I read the New Testament because it’s the life of Jesus. But there are always quotes from the Old Testament so I really feel the need to read the Old Testament as well.

And so I started in Genesis. For the past month, I have been reading in Genesis and I am just amazed how God has moved in the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. From generation to generation, God has been so faithful. I’d like to share with you the spiritual enlightenments that I’ve gained from this book. But I’d do that in another post so I’ll have more space.

So why Genesis? It is the beginning. It is the record of what happened since the start of everything. The story of creation is just amazing. And I wonder how there are people who have a hard time believing in the beauty of creation. Not that I am against anyone but I’d rather believe I am God’s masterpiece created in His own image than a by product of a spinning dust in the outer space. I’d rather believe God has designed me with HIS perfect plan in mind than I am a modified version of an ape.

The story of Abraham is beauty beyond words. He is a friend of God. His story proves how God treasures HIS friends. Jacob is also a man of God. I have yet to research more because I have questions regarding the incident when he wrestled with GOD. Joseph is an evidence that all things work together for good to those who love the LORD.

Oh how I love the book of Genesis. I have read it before but I haven’t really read it by heart. So all of the verses still seem new to me. Or is it just the reality that no matter how many times we read the Bible, everything seems to be fresh because GOD reveals something new to us?

I feel I am obliged to leave you with a verse from Genesis:

Genesis 1:27

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

In awe of God’s surprises…

Happy Wednesday my loves….

WORRY – The Bible tells us not to worry.

But I am a worrier. These past few days I have been worrying about a lot of things. I feel guilty because I know that worrying is belittling the power of GOD.

I ask God for forgiveness and just today HE assures me that HE is with me through all of these. God doesn’t fail. He always put me in awe of HIS wonders. I love how HE can make each day a wonderful one to live. I am in awe of how HE can spin sorrow and worry to joy unspeakable in a blink of an eye.

God must have loved surprises because HE always surprises me with a lot of things. Just when I thought I’m on the end of my rope, HE reveals HE has a whole new roll of rope for me. Just when I thought I’ve reached my wit’s end, HE enlightens me and endows me with HIS wisdom. How wonderful to have a GOD who doesn’t only hear my prayer but actually answer it.

I’m not saying I deserve all this. I don’t. In fact, I am far from being deserving but God still makes me feel so favoured. Who am I that HE is so mindful of me? I am nothing and HE is everything. I am but a speck of dust in HIS universe of perfection. This only proves how great is HIS love for us.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

What I learned from Timothy Green….

Happy Monday my loves….

It’s been a gloomy and rainy day here. I think it is the perfect time to watch a movie. I am always a fan of family movies and I happened to have “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” on my laptop. I have never watched this one yet and I am so glad I did today.

The movie was so good and I learned so much from it.

First, family is really important. Cherish each day and enjoy it like it’s your last day together. We cannot escape the problems that are just natural for families but we can all work together to solve those problems. Timothy Green has made me realise that a family should be a rock that we can all go to when things get rough.

Second, we all get inspiration and strength from something. Timothy feels the warmth of the sun and it made him feel good and revived. I feel the warm love of the SON and I feel revived, strengthened, and ready for anything. Timothy got the sun, I got the SON!

Third, we will face different challenges in life but as long as we never give up, we can do it. We are made more than conquerors as Romans 8:37 confirms. Challenges come in different forms but there nothing to fear. If our GOD is with us, who or what can stand against us?

Fourth, we need friends. Do not underestimate the power of friendship. Yes, family is important but sometimes, there are things and situations when we need friends too. They make life more colourful, isn’t it?

Pardon me for sharing my thoughts on a rather old movie but I just wanted to share these bits to you as I feel we can all learn something from them.

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Proverbs 1:8

It’s officially winter…

Happy Sunday my loves….

Yesterday is the start of the winter season…Because we are in the warm part of Oz, it isn’t as cold here as in Tazzie. But nevertheless, we can feel the cool breeze and it’s been raining too. It seldom rains here so it is quite a sight to see each drop. And no, I haven’t been counting the drops ;p

There’s a lot of things to do today but because it was a gloomy day, we ended up curled up in the couch and did a movie marathon. I have quite a few movies to choose from. For a laugh, I watched Parental Guidance and The Watch. And to give me a bit of scare, I watched Hide and Seek. I know this is an old movie but it gave me the creeps.

Everyone in their PJs and covered with the doona.

But winter is a good excuse for me to wear boots:

And beautify! lol

Today is a wonderful day. And I thank the LORD for making this day for us. I thank the LORD for giving me the privilege to live this day 🙂

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
