Have you forgotten?

Happy Monday my loves..

Tomorrow is the day before Christmas. Carollers visit our house every night. The shops are packed with people. Gifts are everywhere. Christmas lights flicker in every corner I set my eyes on. Pantries are packed with supplies. This is the season when people seem to hate money and they just want to spend it. Giving is common during this season. Do these material things blur our eyes from the real meaning and reason of Christmas?

Families gather together to celebrate. This is also the perfect time for reunions. Most companies offer Christmas break for their employees. This is the week in a year that all employees love. Bonuses, 13th month pay, and break – oh the perks of the season!

Parents get to see their children who are working from afar. Children get to meet their cousins from different places. Family seems to be the star of the season. But is it really?

How many of us still remembers the story of the birth of Jesus? How many times do we tell this story to our children? What do we look forward to during this season?

Kids should be given more than just gifts. They should be given understanding of the real reason for the season. Have we forgotten what happened years ago in Bethlehem? Have we forgotten that we celebrate Christmas because our Saviour was born?

Jesus is the highlight of this season. Let us not forget that. Amidst all the celebration and excitement, let us always keep our eyes focused on HIM who chose to be born unto us, the ONE who chose to die for us so we could live, and the ONE who gives us all the reason to live.

Blessed Christmas my loves 🙂

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

Christmas Family Dinner

Happy Friday my loves…

Christmas is just a few days away. This is the perfect time for families to get together and enjoy a sumptuous meal or most of the time, dinner, while reminiscing the past, planning the future, and enjoying the presents of today.

In our family, it has always been the tradition to eat our dinner late. By late, I mean 12:01 in the morning of the 25th. This is to welcome the day of Christmas. We always have a simple family party while waiting for the clock to strike 12. There are a lot of activities to do while waiting. We sometimes watch movie. We make it a point to choose a family rated movie so the kids can watch as well. For this year’s Christmas waiting time, I’m planning to get the “Frozen” movie for the whole family to enjoy. If not, I would probably be okay with Turbo or Smurfs 2.

We always cook a special dinner for the whole family. And I would like to share some of my favourite Christmas foods to you:

Gingerbread cookies are always a hit for the kids. I usually shape them as gingerbread man or gingerbread house. But for Christmas, these lovely hearts and stars cookies are just perfect.

Don’t you just love these Santa Claus strawberries? They are so easy to make. Simply cut off the bottom part of the strawberry, fill with whip cream, then put the bottom part back. The kids are sure to love these strawberries. This is perfect for family Christmas dinner.

I am a pasta lover, so anything with long strands of pasta stirs up my appetite 🙂 I love bolognese, pesto, and aglio oglio. I also love marinara.

Roast pork is also a very much loved participant of our family table. If we can’t have roast pork, we settle with barbecued pork rashers. Or deep fried pork belly.

A Christmas dinner is incomplete without ham leg.

Quezo de bola is also a must. This is edam cheese ball.

A yummy cake adds a sweet touch to our Christmas family dinner. The kids adore cakes and practically anything sweet 🙂

And lastly to make the Christmas family dinner complete….ice cream!

Dressing Up In Black

Happy Monday my loves…

Last Friday, our group composed of young professionals and college students have gathered together to kickstart the holiday season with a simple Christmas party. Our colour motif were white, black, and red. But as you will notice in the pictures, most of us decided to wear black. I guess the reason is that we all wanted to hide something like the flab on the side of our love handles? 😛

We had lots of fun during the night. We had a very short program and then played one game. After which, we burned the night with chit chats and karaoke singing. We also cheered the night with a glass of wine. What a fun night it was.

The good thing about this gathering is that it is more than just a fun filled gathering, it is also an uplifting get together. We shared part of ourselves through stories that will somehow encourage each other.

Well, here are some of the pictures that I wanted to share with you:

There you go my loves, hope you liked the pictures 🙂

Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

It’s Time To Pamper The Mommies

Happy Tuesday my loves….

Let’s admit it. There is no other work more tiresome than being a mom. From the birth of the baby and even after they have grown up, mommy duties never stop. There are times when we don’t even have time to take a shower. It seems like the opportunity to relax is just a vague smoke that will just disappear without us noticing.

But yell if you agree that mommies need some pampering too. WHOA! Who would say no to a relaxing full body massage after a day’s work? But do you know that there are more to massage when it comes to pampering? There are actually many ways to indulge in some serious moment of pampering. And I’m going to share to you some of my favourites:

1. Manicure and Pedicure.

As long as you go to a good aesthetician, you can have a relaxing time while having your nails fixed. I always go for manicure and pedicure every week. It’s a sort of reward to myself. I tend to forget that right on the next day, I have to do the laundry and more often than not, I am just going to remove the nail polish on my fingers. But who cares? At least I enjoyed an hour of pampering a day before that 🙂

2. Massage

I always love hard massage. I don’t mind even if I hear my bones cracking. I feel like I’m releasing all the stress of the week. As much as possible I also get a massage every week. Hey, mommies have a long week always so we all deserve some pressure on those worn out muscles, right? But I don’t really mean this kind of pressure:

3. Aromatic Shower Gels and Lotion

It feels good to just be on the shower after a long day. It feels even better if you are using aromatic shower gel. It keeps you relaxed. Trust me, you’ll enjoy each visit to the shower room 🙂 Lotion doesn’t only make your skin smooth but it also helps calm your muscles. There are also lotions that help remove stretch marks. I know it gives mommies joy to know that somehow those marks are going to fade. And this is the kind of shower gel that I would recommend:

And aromatic lotion:

4. Go walking.

If dogs get a daily dose of walking exercise, why shouldn’t we? 30 minutes leisure walk can help calm our muscles and reduce our stress. I suggest you choose a place that is relaxing. There is no point going for a walk in a busy street or walk around shops. When you go walking, savour the beauty of nature and enjoy each step you make. Remember that you are doing this not to burn calories but to actually de-stress. Although burning calories is an added benefit of walking. If you want, you can even make this time romantic by walking hand in hand with your partner.

5. Go out with girlfriends.

Mommies should not live exclusively for their families. We should also spend some quality time with our girlfriends. They are there for a reason. Let’s face it. We are different when we are with friends than when we are with our family. Having a support group as girlfriends can make mommies’ life for meaningful and fun.

So here you go mommies…it’s time we all get pampered…

Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honor your father and mother”–which is the first commandment with a promise–  “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

I can buy you, your friends, and this club….

Happy Monday my loves…

Do you believe that money can bring out the best and the worst in us? I had the privilege of being born in a simple family. By simple I mean that we live each day by God’s grace. We never had something in store for tomorrow but we always have something for each day. Isn’t this the way we’re supposed to live?

There are people who earn money and use this privilege in a positive way. Sadly, there are also those who gets too overwhelmed with what they have that they let themselves drift into the limbo of fantasy and start to think they can do anything they want. They think that they are above anything and anyone.

I am just carried away by the recent controversy that my once revered actress, Anne Curtis, is currently involved in. I used all the products she endorses. I even had to put up with dry skin because I had to use a bar soap just because she endorsed it. Sadly, I was really disappointed with how she reacted on the club and how she bragged that she can buy practically anything she wants.

I believe it’s great to have money. I dream of becoming rich myself. But I don’t think it gives anyone the right to bring someone down.

I know a lot of people who have changed drastically because of money. Money should make us more generous. It should make us more appreciative. It should make us more thankful to the ONE who is the source of it. It should make us more prayerful. It should make us more humble knowing that we can never have anything that we have right now if not by grace. It should never be the other way around.

This is just a sentiment of a frustrated fan. I can’t say I am in the position to judge as firstly, I have no right to judge; and secondly, I haven’t experienced being rich so I don’t know the feeling of having too much money.

Anyway, I just thought I’d let my musings out. 🙂

Proverbs 17:16

Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?

Memes – Kids Are The Funniest

Happy Monday my loves…

So memes are pretty everywhere on Facebook now. I usually have a good laugh every now and then because of them. A lot of these memes are about politicians, sexy girls, and hot celebrities. Oh, and there are the hundreds of Mr. Bean memes. But personally, I find memes featuring kids the funniest. Kids are natural comedians. They don’t require effort to etch a smile on our faces. Once in a while, they manage to make us fall from our seats laughing. Kids are born with the natural ability to keep us entertained.

So after months of keeping the fun to myself, I’ve decided to share some of my favourite memes featuring adorable kids. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

well…hope you had a good laugh 🙂

Ecclesiastes 11:9

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
