and the list can go on and on.

I am a firm believer of the potential of every child to learn to the fullest. And I believe that educational games like this will help them reach their full potential.

What Makes This Educational Game Unique?

The game addresses your child by his name. It makes your child even more excited every time he hears the voice prompt commending him by his name. For instance, when you open the game, it will greet the child by saying “hello, (name of child)”. It also says “well done (child’s name)” if the child is doing good with the activities. This will help encourage the child to strive to learn more.

When you order the package, you will be asked to write your child’s name on the Special Instructions box. This way, your child’s name will be incorporated to the game.

The games are also presented in a colourful way. The background is nature inspired and it is animated. This will help keep your child’s interest on the game.

The voice over is very clear. Your child will definitely understand each word spoken on the voice over. My son is not a native English speaker but he understands every word spoken on the games.

The games are highly interactive and your child will definitely get hooked on the games. Well, I am speaking in terms of experience as my son loves playing the games.

I highly recommend this game package to parents. Take it from me my loves, your children will enjoy and learn 🙂

In Your Presence There Is Peace…

Happy Monday my loves…

I may be placed in situations I don’t understand but I hold on to the fact that although we are pressed down in every way, we are not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we may be knocked down but not destroyed.

I am always the cheerful one but there are times when things get rough and it gets the best of me. I am always tempted to ask the question “WHY” but then I realize, who am I to even question HIM who holds my future in HIS hands?

There are things in life that I don’t understand. I believe that nothing despairing comes from God. It is always from the enemy although there are times when God allows these things because He is teaching us something. I am not one who will ever doubt God’s goodness in my life. I firmly believe that no matter what I go through or what my family has to face, God walks with us.

The Bible says “blessed is they who believe and have not seen”. I don’t understand some things in our life right now but I believe God will take us out of this. I believe even if I don’t understand. We don’t always have to understand everything, right? Sometimes we just need to embrace the situation and start trusting God. He is beyond any explanation.

God has proven many times how he loves me and my family. I know that He is with us. He will never abandon us. There is peace in HIM. Although the enemy attacks on all sides, I still find peace in HIS presence. I still find hope in HIM. I still trust HIM.

I love you Lord 🙂

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” – John 20:29

Frequent Sleep Paralysis – My Personal Experience

Happy Thursday my loves…

I think stress is taking its toll on me. Ever since I became a mommy, I always experience sleep paralysis. I don’t know if lack of sleep is the reason but I am getting scared already because it happens more frequently nowadays. Sometimes I get paralysed at least twice in just one sleeping.

What exactly do I experience? Every time I experience sleep paralysis, the same thing happens. I sleep and then I wake up in a middle of something really scary and I can’t speak or move any part of my body. I see shadows and scary forces all around me and I try to shout or open my eyes but I just can’t. I know I am in a dream. What happens is that my mind is already conscious that I am in a dream world. It’s like my brain has already shifted to its conscious state but my body is still in subconscious state. The paralysis lasts from a few seconds to like a minute. I pray at the top of my voice – at least in my head because no actual voice is coming out of my mouth. When I start rebuking what I consider as dark forces, I get calm and I get to move. I convince myself that I should relax so that eventually my muscles will start to move.

Sleep paralysis would not be too scary if not for the shadows that I see every time I experience this phenomena.

So being the obsessive compulsive that I am, I spent nights researching about sleep paralysis. I even decided to watch the movie “Shadow People” so I can better understand my experiences. Don’t judge me my loves. I just want to understand what I am going through because honestly, there are times when I am already afraid to sleep because of this. And what’s really keep my thoughts going is that my sleep paralysis encounters only happen in certain places – when I sleep in our bedroom or in the couch. When I sleep in other people’s beds – I mean my sisters’ beds – I don’t really experience sleep paralysis. I don’t know why this happens but I am determined to get my head into it.

So what is sleep paralysis? It has been referred to in many different terms particularly in supernatural beliefs. Some people believe myths of the incubus and the succubus, which they say is evil force that pins down a sleeping person so that he can’t move. There are also the shadow people appearances. In my experience, I can really see shadow figures during my sleep paralysis experiences. But according to researchers, these are mere hallucinations because during sleep paralysis, we are literally awake in the dream world.

So in layman’s terms, sleep paralysis is simply being mentally awake while your body is still asleep. It is being mentally awake but physically asleep. In my case, it is being awake in the middle of my nightmares. I know it is scary but somehow I am getting used to it already.

According to David McCarty, a sleep researcher at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center’s Sleep Medicine Program, there are different elements and stages of sleep. During REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage, there are 3 components involved: 1. you are unconscious, 2. you experience a variety of sensory experiences, and 3. all the muscles are in a stage called ATONIA. This is the stage wherein the muscles are paralyzed. This way, we will not act out our dreams. Sounds reasonable; otherwise, I will be running relentlessly every night. So during sleep paralysis, only two of the REM components are present – the numbers 2 and 3. You are conscious! I know…scary, right?

You might want to know the symptoms of sleep paralysis because you might be experiencing it already without even knowing it. The symptoms are:

* Inability to move or speak (check for me)

* Visual and auditory hallucinations (check for me)

* Breathlessness (Chest Pressure) (check for me)

* Confusion (check for me as I don’t know if I am awake or asleep)

* Helplessness (check for me)

* Fear (check for me – imagine seeing shadow figures while you are mentally awake)

I somehow manage to wake myself up every time I experience sleep paralysis. These are some of the techniques that I do:

* Opening my eyes as wide as possible. During sleep paralysis, this is just the hardest thing to do. Trust me, I’ve experienced this a hundred times already.

* Try to move your toes or fingers. If you can just move a bit, you will wake up.

* Relax your mind. I console myself by saying “this is just a dream” and I will wake up soon.

* PRAY. This is the most important thing to do. I rebuke any bad things in my mind. God is our God whether we are awake or asleep.

So I was looking for ways to prevent sleep paralysis and I found these:

* Exercise. This will help regulate your body and give you a good night’s rest at the end of the day.

* Sleep on your side. Aside from the fact that during sleep paralysis you will be able to move your body easily if you are on your side, research studies also show that people who lie flat on their backs are more prone to sleep paralysis.

* Eat healthy foods. You wouldn’t want too much caffeine, sweets, and alcohol just before bedtime.

* Pray before you sleep.

If you are experiencing sleep paralysis like me, I can relate to how fearful it is for you to sleep by yourself. I am scared to sleep alone because of this but thank God I have the assurance that He is with me even when I drift off to dreamland 🙂

Proverbs 3:24

If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

Is Your Child A Happy Child?

Happy Tuesday my loves…

I am always baffled by the reason why there are some kids who don’t seem to enjoy being kids. I remember when I was a kid, I enjoyed every moment of it. And to think that I don’t have any of what the kids have now. We use to draw and cut paper dolls because we don’t have money to buy real dolls. We play with rubber bands like they are some high form of technological advancement. We write and tell stories better than most authors I know. We play pretend games better than a lot of actors today.

Anyway, my point is that childhood is a fun phase. As a parent, I make sure that my son enjoys every bit of his childhood. Yes, I discipline him once in a while, but most of the time, I let him explore and enjoy. I also make sure that I provide opportunities for him to develop his talents. This is something I wasn’t able to do before. In fact, I could have been a better singer or dancer had I the chance to develop my skills.

So how do we, parents, raise a happy child? What parenting techniques can we use to make sure that our kids will grow up happy and content? These parenting styles may work alone or in partnership with the other styles. I suggest that parents combine various parenting styles to achieve the best results – a happy child.

I know…you might say that we’re talking about our kids being happy, right? So why do we need to be happy parents then? Simple. Remember that children learn by example. If they see the parents happy, they will be happy. How do you think will your children grow up if everyday they see the mommy sulking on the table or the daddy irritated all the time? So be happy parents and your children will be happy children 🙂 It’s as easy as that. Whew…so you can expect my son to be an extremely happy person.

Some kids become sad when they get reprimanded. We don’t want sad kids, right? So every time you have to correct or discipline your child, always prepare an explanation for your parenting actions. They have to understand the reason behind your actions so they can understand you better. Kids who understand their parents grow up to be happy kids. May I just add that when explaining something to your kids, parents remember to speak in a way that your children will understand.

Children should honour the parents, right? In fact, it is one of the ten commandments. However, let us not forget that respect begets respect. If you want your children to respect you, you should set an example by respecting them too. Well, it doesn’t mean that you have to bow before them or do whatever they say. It only means that you treat children like you value them. Don’t be harsh to them even if you are disciplining them. Talk to them politely too. When children feel valued, they grow up happy. After all, even parents will agree that when someone values us, it adds up to our feeling of happiness.

So how do you raise a happy child? As parents, you should set a good example: be happy, explain your parenting actions, and respect your children.

Happy parenting my loves 🙂

Psalms 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Valentines Day Celebration

Happy Monday my loves..

Valentines…hearts day…love day…

No matter how people call it, it is a special day. So young professionals from our church gathered on the eve of the big day and we had a simple yet fun celebration. It was laughter all the way 🙂 I’m pretty sure that everyone enjoyed. Sa sobrang saya ang iba umiyak na…hehe.. If you have been there and not enjoyed, let me know 🙂

Usually, we go out for a Valentine’s dinner with the entire family; however, this year, we decided to just have dinner at home. It turns out that this was not a bad idea after all. We had so much fun and we had our fill.

Most of the restaurants and hotels offer buffer Valentine’s dinner. My date wanted to reserve a table for us at Balay Cena Una which I believe offered a buffet dinner for only 500 pesos. Not too bad considering the menu that they had for the Valentines dinner was really sumptuous.  Or as I imagine it to be 🙂 BUT I was on a diet. (weh…di nga…sige na nga, chika lang) I am not sure that I can eat a lot so I decided that we’ll just cook at home and have a family dinner.

Well, it was a good day. We had fun. Our celebration may be simple but what matters most is the love we all have for each other, right my loves?
