I Have An Awesome Lawyer!

In the Philippines (and I believe in many parts of the world), an accused without any financial means to hire a lawyer is given a public lawyer free of charge. This is the provision of the law that ensures everyone gets a fair trial and judgment for their case.

We are all sinners. No one can boastfully say that he is of no blemish. If we are to be judged, we are all guilty. And you know what the Bible says about the punishment for our sin – death.

But I am not afraid anymore. Why? Because I have an awesome lawyer. I can’t defend myself before the Father. No family or friend can ever defend me. But there is one – of no blemish – who is willing to defend me before the Father. He says I am acquitted because He has already paid for my sin. He says I am free because he already bore what I should have endured. He says I am His because He has bought my life with His own blood. How lucky am I? And how lucky everyone who accept His free defense offer will be.

I have an awesome lawyer who has victory in all the cases he handles! This was part of the discussion that we had last night during our family devotion. Having the time to talk about God and His goodness strengthens our relationship with the Lord and at the same it tightens our relationship with each other as a family. It is a good thing that I see my son participating in the discussion. As a parent, there is nothing more that I desire than to see my son living a life that glorifies the Lord. As a pilgrim in this world, I want to leave a legacy to him and that is a life that serves the Lord.

We have started our family devotions recently and I must say that it is a good thing that we did especially nowadays when the temptations of the world get stronger every day. Studying the Word helps us fight these temptations.

How about you my loves, have you ever consider having a family devotion?

The Fix Your Eyes On The Eternal

I have just finished my daily Bible reading. Today, I read in 1 John chapter 2.

I really believe that verse 17 is a good reminder for us all to fix our eyes on things that will last forever. What is the use of spending everything that we have on things that will be just be around for a while? Wouldn’t it be just a waste of time?

So what are the things that are eternal? Our soul, our salvation, and our relationship with the Lord are eternal. These are the things that we should be working on.

Of course we should still take care of our families, do our work, and enjoy fellowship with other people. But let us not forget that as we do these temporal things, we should be very careful not to ignore the eternal things. We should always set aside time for the Lord. We should not spend all our resources on the things of the world.

I hope this verse reminds you as good as it reminded me to keep my eyes fixed on the eternal.

Pride And Same Sex Marriage – My Opinion

Happy Monday my loves…

Recently, the United States has legalized same sex marriage. We all have different opinions when it comes to this issue. Given the freedom of speech that we have, I believe I have the right to speak out what I think about “Pride” and same sex marriage.

The term “Pride” itself is not something to be proud of. It is a capital sin and the father of all sins. It is because of pride that the devil wanted to be like God. It is pride that pushes people to think highly of themselves and feel that they don’t need God. It is pride that stops us from admitting our sins and asking for forgiveness. Pride is a negative word that people are now associating with something that they think is beautiful. Truly, the truth is compromised.

God created man and woman. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman. God created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve. With same sex marriage, the holiness of marriage is compromised. The Bible is very clear about the detestable act of lying with same sex.

The Bible declares same sex relationship and marriage as an abomination. This is the very reason why Sodom and Gomorrah was wiped out from existence. I believe the United States is calling for another Sodom and Gomorrah event to happen anytime soon.

Having been raised as a Christian, I firmly believe that God’s design is fool proof. God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman because this is the perfect union. How do you expect people to procreate through same sex marriage? God commanded people to procreate and same sex marriage is stopping people from doing God’s command.

With all the ungodly things that are happening in the world, I believe God is on the brink of destroying the world and we are not doing anything to appease his anger. These people are actually fueling God’s anger.

Don’t get me wrong. I have gay friends and I love them as a person. As they say, love the sinner but hate the sin. I love my friends and I pray for a change of heart for them. I don’t believe in pride and same sex marriage but I believe in the power of Christ to change the hearts of people.

Don’t be fooled my loves. What future awaits our children’s virtues? They will grow up thinking that pride and same sex relationships are right. I am raising a God fearing Christian boy and I pray that God seal his heart and mind from the mental and physical corruption of the world. I pray that parents will be more vigilant with this issue. This is not something that will be good for our children. While I can’t do anything about this law, at least I can do something with how I raise my son.

I Loved You At Your Darkest

Happy Tuesday my loves…

Why would you love a person? We may have different reasons but mostly we love because we find goodness in others. But who would love us at our darkest?

Roman 5:8

This is my verse for today. Isn’t it amazing that God loved us even while we were still sinners? He loved us at our darkest times. He pulled us up from the depth of our sins.

It is easy to love someone who loves us back. But being buried in sin means that we don’t love God. This only means that even when we still haven’t loved Him yet, He already has his eyes of love on us.

Although we are Christians, we are not perfect. I bet no one can stand up and profess to be perfect except Him who has clothed Himself in full humanity but yet without sin. Once in a while, deliberately or not, we still grieve God. We still commit sin. Sad but true. We may not even notice it at times but we do things that are not pleasing to Him. What I am trying to say here is that even if you feel the guilt of sin, don’t you ever think that God doesn’t love you. He loves you and He cares for you. In spite of all our failures and darkness, He sees us with eyes of grace and love.

This verse is my source of comfort. One song from the Black Eyed Peas asks “Where Is The Love?”. Sometimes we feel that there is no more love left in this world.  Sometimes we feel that it is us against the world. There are also times when situations seem to be unfair. When these things happen, when the enemy attacks us with this kind of self pity emotion, always turn back to Romans 5:8. Even while we were sinners, Christ died for us. That is how much He loves you and me. He doesn’t care about our past or our future sins. The blood He shed has cleansed us from all sin – yes, even the future ones we are about to commit. Although we must remember that this doesn’t give us any license to sin.

I hope you feel God’s love always. He has a special way of making us feel His love. We just need to be more discerning.

May your day be filled with an awesome love!

I Am Made New

Happy Friday my loves…

Last Wednesday night, we had our discipleship training here at our home and our topic was 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! This means that our sinful nature has died and a new us is born. From being slaves to sin, we become children of God.

This verse strikes me hard on the heart. It got me thinking, just how new am I?

God changed my life

I hate to speak for myself as some of you may not agree with me but personally, I have noticed a lot of positive changes in me since God has looked upon me with favour and grace and has gladly accepted me as one of His children. It would be better I think if this observation comes from other people because then I will know how changed I am. This is the fairest measure of the changes in me.

I have always been known as the loud one. I thank the Lord that somehow He has started taming my tongue. I am not saying I can fully control what comes out of my mouth but little by little I have learned to stop when I know that someone might get hurt by my words. I am still on the process of change but it is a great thing that I have already started the journey. Og Mandino once said, the journey to a thousand miles begins with the first step. I am past the first step already and I thank God for it.

I am not always the obedient one. I do things that I like to do even if I go against what other people say to me. But lately, I have learned to be obedient. I know that this is not an overnight change but I am glad that my heart and mind can already discern what’s best to do. There are times that obeying seems to be the hardest thing to do but then the Bible reminds us that obedience is better than sacrifice so no matter how hard it may seem, we should learn to obey. And by obedience here, I mean obeying God.

Being a new person in Christ means having a renewed mind. We can’t say that we are changed when we still think the same way. There should be a renewal of our minds to make way for the transformation. We are transformed. We are new. I really love the word “transform” because it means that God has made us new. We were not just “reformed” but “transformed”. Isn’t it great that God did not just corrected our faults but He actually removed our old selves and gave us new ones. I am just truly in awe.

What a great verse this is. This is something that gives me hope and inspiration to continue striving for greater change.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

In Your Presence There Is Peace…

Happy Monday my loves…

I may be placed in situations I don’t understand but I hold on to the fact that although we are pressed down in every way, we are not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we may be knocked down but not destroyed.

I am always the cheerful one but there are times when things get rough and it gets the best of me. I am always tempted to ask the question “WHY” but then I realize, who am I to even question HIM who holds my future in HIS hands?

There are things in life that I don’t understand. I believe that nothing despairing comes from God. It is always from the enemy although there are times when God allows these things because He is teaching us something. I am not one who will ever doubt God’s goodness in my life. I firmly believe that no matter what I go through or what my family has to face, God walks with us.

The Bible says “blessed is they who believe and have not seen”. I don’t understand some things in our life right now but I believe God will take us out of this. I believe even if I don’t understand. We don’t always have to understand everything, right? Sometimes we just need to embrace the situation and start trusting God. He is beyond any explanation.

God has proven many times how he loves me and my family. I know that He is with us. He will never abandon us. There is peace in HIM. Although the enemy attacks on all sides, I still find peace in HIS presence. I still find hope in HIM. I still trust HIM.

I love you Lord 🙂

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” – John 20:29

Have you forgotten?

Happy Monday my loves..

Tomorrow is the day before Christmas. Carollers visit our house every night. The shops are packed with people. Gifts are everywhere. Christmas lights flicker in every corner I set my eyes on. Pantries are packed with supplies. This is the season when people seem to hate money and they just want to spend it. Giving is common during this season. Do these material things blur our eyes from the real meaning and reason of Christmas?

Families gather together to celebrate. This is also the perfect time for reunions. Most companies offer Christmas break for their employees. This is the week in a year that all employees love. Bonuses, 13th month pay, and break – oh the perks of the season!

Parents get to see their children who are working from afar. Children get to meet their cousins from different places. Family seems to be the star of the season. But is it really?

How many of us still remembers the story of the birth of Jesus? How many times do we tell this story to our children? What do we look forward to during this season?

Kids should be given more than just gifts. They should be given understanding of the real reason for the season. Have we forgotten what happened years ago in Bethlehem? Have we forgotten that we celebrate Christmas because our Saviour was born?

Jesus is the highlight of this season. Let us not forget that. Amidst all the celebration and excitement, let us always keep our eyes focused on HIM who chose to be born unto us, the ONE who chose to die for us so we could live, and the ONE who gives us all the reason to live.

Blessed Christmas my loves 🙂

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

Like a fire….

Happy Monday my loves….

Fire…it consumes…it burns…it lights…it saturates…it heats…

So I’ve been listening to one of the songs of Planetshakers called “Like a fire”. This song is so moving. I always include this in my line up when I’m tasked to lead the worship team at our church back in the Philippines.

How I love this song as it declares our need for Christ. Fire gives light. We need light to be able to live comfortably. We need light so we can see where we’re going. God is light. We need Him, there is no doubt to it. There may be times when our world seems so dark and we don’t know where we’ll end up to. We may try to open our eyes but they seem to be blinded by the situations we are in. God is light. Like a fire, He lights up our world.

He consumes me like a fire. My heart is just overwhelmed when I know that I am in His presence. There is fullness of joy. There is contentment. There is peace.

Like a fire, He can set me on fire for service. How I love the feeling of being on fire for Christ.

This song is an expression of desperateness for Christ. It is a declaration of the fact that we can’t be anything or anyone without Him. A good reminder indeed that we need Him.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, I suggest you do. This is an excellent worship song too for churches.

Hebrews 12:29

I’m getting an A+ in waiting….

Happy Wednesday my loves…

Waiting is boring to a lot of people. In fact, according to surveys, it is the most hated thing to do by a lot of people. It gives anxiety and stress. There is nothing more dreadful than to wait for something that you are not sure of.

But I wait. I waited before and I still wait until now. But I’m not waiting in vain.

Waiting is synonymous to patience. It reveals a great of deal of your patience. When you wait for something or someone, there is always the need to wait patiently. You can’t wait if you are not patient. You’ll end up too bored, stressed, and angry at times.

Why don’t I get tired of waiting?

Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry…

God has given me the confidence to wait. Jeremiah 29:11 says that HIS plan for us is to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us hope and future. This is my verse. This is what GOD is telling me. HIS plans are perfect. I wait because I know HE is going to prosper me in HIS perfect time.

While I was writing this post, God has actually answered one of my prayers. I have been waiting for this answer for a few weeks already and now He just answered me. How amazing it is. God never fails me. When it comes to surprises, He tops it all the time. Again, He made me realize that worrying will not do anything except add a few lines on my forehead and a bit more fluffiness under my eyes.

Why did I say I’m getting an A+ in waiting? Because there are lot of things that I wait for. And while some people may well quit, I didn’t. I wait. I still wait. I will wait.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Life lessons from Genesis…

Happy Friday my loves…

Today is a happy day. Thank GOD it’s Friday ;p

So as I have mentioned, I’d like to share with you some of the valuable life lessons that I’ve learned from reading the book of Genesis. I have read this book a few times already but I must admit that I have not remembered any. This may be because I wasn’t reading from my heart before. I was just driven by my desire to finish the book.

So for the past month, I have been reading a chapter per day. And from my daily readings, these lessons surfaced:

* God has created us. We are perfectly planned. We are not here  by accident. We are here for a purpose. He has designed every one of us with perfection in mind. I used to think low of myself but God has just reassured me that I am special. I am created from HIS own image. I am HIS.

* God blesses HIS people. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph are all men of GOD. They were blessed abundantly with no more rooms for all the blessings. Oh how I love the feeling of hope and future that HE gives me. We will also be blessed just as these people have been blessed.

* Children are gifts from GOD. True! In the old times, people believe that barrenness is a punishment for sin. They believe that having children is a gift from GOD. Isaac was a promised gift to both Abraham and Sarah. Joseph was a gift for Jacob and Rachel.

* No matter where we are, God is with us. Whether Joseph is in Potiphar’s house, in the prison, or at the right hand of the Pharaoh, GOD has favoured HIM greatly. GOD doesn’t choose a place, HE chooses us.

* To forgive is to forget. When Joseph has forgiven his brothers, he has also forgotten what they have done to him. This is what forgiveness is all about. You do not keep records of the past.

I have more lessons to share on my next post…I’ll keep this post short else you’ll get tired of reading 🙂

Hebrews 1:10 He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
