Our Little Angel At 12 Weeks

Our little bubba is now 12 weeks and 3 days old. How fast time flies! We have to wait until the 20th week to know the gender but we are praying it will be a baby girl. Everyone we know hopes for a baby girl too. I can never be more excited.

Last time we went for my prenatal checkup, my OB tried to listen to the baby’s heartbeat using the doppler but we can’t hear it. She said it was probably too early to detect the heartbeat so she did a quick pelvic ultrasound just to make sure that the baby is okay and is alive. The baby was sleeping so we can’t really see any movement. My OB tried to prod my abdomen gently and the baby moved a little. What a relief to find out it’s okay.

According to Babycenter.com, at this age, the baby is already the size of a lime. Great improvement. Last week, it was just the size of a brussel sprout. It weighs about half an ounce and measures around a little over 2 inches. It is looking more human every week. It got reflexes now. The eyes have moved from the sides to the front of the head. The ears are now in place as well.

As for me, I am beginning to feel morning sickness. I know it’s late since I am already about to start my second trimester. I haven’t had any morning sickness during my first trimester so I must be a late bloomer! Heartburn has become more and more intense now. And talk about frequent trip to the bathroom especially early in the morning!

I have no particular craving for food but I want cold drinks always. It’s hard to pin this down to pregnancy since it is full Summer here so I am thinking I will still crave for cold drinks even if I am not pregnant.

My tummy is getting bigger now. I am running out of clothes that fit me.

My family has been nothing but very supportive and helpful at this stage. I thank the Lord for the gift of family to help me get through this exciting but scary journey.

How Do You Start Your Day?

It’s Tuesday and I’d like to start this day right. A prayer in the morning before you do anything else is the best way to start the day. It’s the foolproof way to make things work right throughout the day.

Today, I cooked special scrambled egg for my little man.  He finished it before I can even take a picture of it. And for me, a cup of coffee always wakes me up.

The blankets are already on the washing machine and Im set to start the day right!

How about you my loves? How do you start your day?

Why Do Men Cheat?

Happy Monday my loves…

Society tells us that men are superior compared to women. But I beg to disagree. Men are weak and this is the very reason why they cheat. Come to think of it, if they are as strong as they think they are, why would they need a number of women to make them feel better about themselves? Whereas, women are strong. We don’t need other men to make us feel that we are strong – one man in our lives is enough.

Men are insecure beings. They are not contented with what they have and so they seek for more. If a man is happy with his wife and his family, there is no reason to look for anyone else. Cheating is a result of insecurity. They want to feel secured. They want to re-assure themselves that they are superior and that they can do anything they want. This gives them a false sense of security.

Given the chance, men will always grab the opportunity to cheat. This is not something that most women will take advantage of. Why do you think there are a lot of magazines and websites that promote obscenity? Because publishers know that men are not strong enough to resist looking – and in most cases, turning page after page. Apparently, one page is not enough. And no matter how hard I try to convince myself that this is part of being a man, I still firmly believe that this is already a form of cheating.

I may come across to you as a sexist but I am not. I am merely telling you what is obvious that we seem to overlook. I understand that not all men are the same. There are those who remain loyal to their wives no matter how strong the temptation may be. And I truly admire these men. I give a shout out to all men who have stood up for what they believe in and who have fought temptations to preserve the love.

And let me also correct myself for generalizing. I should have used “some men” instead of “men” for the sake of being fair. I’m sorry.

So where are all these thoughts coming from? Since it’s women’s day last Friday, I just happened to feel empathy for the plight of women who have been cheated on by their husbands. There are many articles online that we can all relate to as women. And although it may not have personally happened to us, we still can’t help but feel the sincerest empathy for these women.

And my advice? Men who cheat are not worth our love 🙂 Happy women’s day my loves 🙂

How To Be A Good Wife – In Celebration Of Women’s Day

Happy Tuesday my loves..

Women’s day is just around the corner. One of the exciting roles of a woman is to be a wife. I’ve been married for many years already.I have lived half of my life with my husband. Our marriage is not a walk in the park. It is not something that came out straight from a romantic fairy tale story. Our marriage is just like everybody else’s. We have our ups and downs. We have our little arguments. We struggle many times. But God has continually sustained what we have.

So as part of the upcoming women’s day, let me share to you some of the ways to be a good wife. Some are clichés that we often times forget about so please take them as reminders.

1. Women’s way is not always the right way. Let’s admit it. Sometimes our way is so different from our husband’s way. In a relationship, there should always be respect. Even if we think that we are certain with our way, we should not miss the opportunity to listen to our husbands’ ideas. They may have a different way of taking things but it doesn’t mean that they are already wrong. Listen first before deciding on whose way to follow.

2. Be your husband’s constant companion. We all need intimate companionships. Genesis 2:18 says that “It is not good that the man should be alone.” We need company and unless we want our husbands to look for company somewhere else, let us keep our intimate companionship alive.

3. Don’t assume that your husband is a mind reader. Women are vague. We don’t usually say what we want to say in a direct way. We beat around the bush and yet expect our husbands to fully understand us. They are not mind readers. Say what you mean and then communication will not be that difficult at all.

4. Your husband is not Prince Charming. Don’t expect too much and you will not be disappointed. Women are so fond of fairy tale love stories. As young girls, we always dream of having our own prince charmings. But have we asked ourselves this: we are looking for Prince Charming but are we Cinderella material? Expectations can ruin a relationship. Accept who your husband is. Forget Prince Charming.

5. Before you talk to other people about your relationship concerns, talk to your husband first. Anything about the relationship should be discussed between the two of you. Other people will just create a wider barrier between you and your husband. Asking for people’s advice is an option only if you can’t resolve the issue between the two of you.

So there you go my loves, my five tips on how to be a good wife. I am not a good wife yet but I’m trying to be one 🙂

An Open Letter To My Son – On Your New Journey

Dear Vince,

Growing up, I have constantly heard the saying that time flies so fast. Not until today, I didn’t fully realize the meaning of this saying. As you embark on a new journey in your young life, I can’t help but think about how quick time has been. It was just like yesterday when you were a baby clutching on my leg when I first left you in your Nursery classroom and now you have confidently marched on the stage receiving your elementary diploma like a grown man.

Remember when I stayed for the whole two months inside your Nursery room because you kept on crying? I must say I had a hard time but on the other hand, I was cherishing every moment of it because I know that time will come when you will push me out of the classroom lest your friends will tease you as mama’s boy.

When we moved to Australia and you started your preparatory studies there, we were both taken back to the first day of your nursery class. I understand as everything was new and people were speaking in a language different from you. Nevertheless, I was so proud that you held your tears back and bravely went through the day and the days after that.

Going back to the Philippines is another major challenge for you. Just when you have learned to speak the English language like a pro, you were taken back to the place where you have already forgotten the language. Filipino was a pain to teach to you as your tongue seems to be so used to the English language already. But you have shown me such determination to re-learn the language and you did.

I know that you have been too pressured by me and your daddy when it comes to your studies. There was not a night that you can sleep early because we had to review the lessons to make sure you understand them. I know that your attention span as a kid is not that long so you may not have grasped everything that the teacher has taught you in school so we had to review the lessons at home. You may find us very strict but I hope someday you will be able to thank us for doing so. Do you think it does not hurt us to see you so tired? It does but no pain, no gain, right?

As you start with another chapter in your journey, my prayer is that you grow up valuing what is good and rebuking what is not. It is my earnest prayer always that you grow up to be the man that God planned you to be. We are not perfect parents but I pray all the time that God helps us be good parents to you.

During high school years, many children are inclined to confide to their friends rather than their parents. Please don’t do so. Please remember that our ears are always ready to listen. Our hearts are always ready to sympathize. Our hands are always ready to help. We are always here for you.

We love you so much and that will never change.

Christmas Around The World

Happy Monday my loves…

I’ve heard a lot about this new attraction in Malinao, Albay called “Christmas Around The World”. I have also seen a lot of pictures from my Facebook and Instagram feeds about this Albay tourist and Christmas attraction. Being the curious me, and of course for the kids too, we decided to visit this Christmas village. Christmas around the world 31

Malinao, Albay is a few kilometers away from my place. It took us approximately an hour to go there. It would have been a shorter trip if there was no traffic especially in Tabaco area. When we arrived in Malinao, it was packed with people. In fact, we were not able to park our car somewhere near the park. We had to walk about a few hundred meters from where we’ve parked to the actual “Christmas Around The World” park or village as others call it. Christmas around the world 28

When I say packed with people, I mean literally packed. I don’t know if it was this crowded during weekdays but yesterday, it was too crowded that we can’t move comfortably anymore. Every time I try to take a picture of the displays, I end up having a hundred photo bombers. As a matter of fact, my camera is full of pictures of people I don’t even know. Christmas around the world 27

But I did not travel a good one hour for nothing. I still took pictures even if it means taking a full ten images just to capture a good one. The kids love the “Christmas Around the World” park too. We stayed there for an hour and a half – just enough to go around and take a picture of the displays. And I almost forgot, there was a firework display too – which added to the magic of the place.

The park displays famous landmarks from different countries. Among the ones I can identify are the Golden Gate Bridge, Sydney Opera House, the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Flavian Amphitheatre or “The Coliseum”, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Statue of Liberty, the Goliath Poldermolen of Netherlands, Venice’s gondola, Eiffel Tower, and some middle eastern palace which I am not so sure of.

There is also this tree house with a lighted hanging bridge.

I Loved You At Your Darkest

Happy Tuesday my loves…

Why would you love a person? We may have different reasons but mostly we love because we find goodness in others. But who would love us at our darkest?

Roman 5:8

This is my verse for today. Isn’t it amazing that God loved us even while we were still sinners? He loved us at our darkest times. He pulled us up from the depth of our sins.

It is easy to love someone who loves us back. But being buried in sin means that we don’t love God. This only means that even when we still haven’t loved Him yet, He already has his eyes of love on us.

Although we are Christians, we are not perfect. I bet no one can stand up and profess to be perfect except Him who has clothed Himself in full humanity but yet without sin. Once in a while, deliberately or not, we still grieve God. We still commit sin. Sad but true. We may not even notice it at times but we do things that are not pleasing to Him. What I am trying to say here is that even if you feel the guilt of sin, don’t you ever think that God doesn’t love you. He loves you and He cares for you. In spite of all our failures and darkness, He sees us with eyes of grace and love.

This verse is my source of comfort. One song from the Black Eyed Peas asks “Where Is The Love?”. Sometimes we feel that there is no more love left in this world.  Sometimes we feel that it is us against the world. There are also times when situations seem to be unfair. When these things happen, when the enemy attacks us with this kind of self pity emotion, always turn back to Romans 5:8. Even while we were sinners, Christ died for us. That is how much He loves you and me. He doesn’t care about our past or our future sins. The blood He shed has cleansed us from all sin – yes, even the future ones we are about to commit. Although we must remember that this doesn’t give us any license to sin.

I hope you feel God’s love always. He has a special way of making us feel His love. We just need to be more discerning.

May your day be filled with an awesome love!
